THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF SOUTH ALABAMA AWARDS $220,000 TO LOCAL NONPROFITS
The Community Foundation of South Alabama (Foundation) is pleased to announce it has awarded $220,000 to 6 nonprofit organizations across its eight-county footprint in Southwest Alabama. These funds support programs that will narrow the opportunity gap present among our local youth.
The Foundation strives to aid families, specifically kids, in its eight-county footprint. Annually, grant funding supports programs that address mental and behavioral health, family, education, work, racial equity and arts and culture.
The 2023 Closing the Opportunity Gap grantees include Alabama 4-H Foundation, HIPPY Clarke County, South Baldwin Literacy Council, Camille Place, Washington County Public Library, and Clotilda Descendants Association.
"Supporting programs that empower our youth is not just an investment in their future, but in the vitality of our entire community,” said Community Foundation of South Alabama President & CEO Rebecca Byrne. “Through ‘Closing the Opportunity Gap,’ we're dedicated to fostering a generation of resilient, informed, and healthy young leaders, paving the way for a brighter, more vibrant tomorrow."
